Child of Light

You are all children of the light and of the day; we don't belong to darkness and night.
1 Thessalonians 5:5 NLT

Read this proverb and consider how you can be a child of light today.
If there is light in the soul,
There will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person,
There will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house,
There will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
There will be peace in the world.
We should reflect the Light of the world's love and truth and carry it within ourselves to find God's peace. Let thing light create harmony in all that you do today and illuminate the way for everyone you see.

A Taste of Gentleness
Lord, help me to gently and freely and lovingly shine Your light today for the sake of each person I meet. Amen

Genuine Love

You must teach people to have genuine love, as well as a good conscience and true faith.
1 Timothy 1:5 CEV

Most of us think we understand what love is and that it is all about, and yet a quick look around the world might make us wonder how much we really know about the subject.
Perhaps the problem rests in genuine love, versus artificial love. There's a lot of love being bandied about as though it could be the real thing in ads and TV shows and even relationships. We may still need some further education.
Starting with what you know about God's love, or the love shared in your family, spend some time this week and concentrate on the word, the idea, the concept of love. Study it until you get to the place where you can identify genuine love over all imitations. The lesson may well be worth the effort.

A Taste of Love
Lord, help me to understand Your love in such a way that I can use that as a measure for how I need to love and how I hope to be loved in return. Amen

Neighbors and Stranges

"Love your neighbor as yourself."
Mark 12:31

If you've been living in your community for a long time, chances are pretty good that you know some of your neighbors and have a nodding acquaintance with many of them.
We tend to think that love is an emotional response between two people, or a response of one person toward something else, like chocolate, for instance.
Now, if you don't know your neighbors, or the neighbors next to them, or the ones across town, how are you supposed to love them? How do you love your neighbors as yourself?
Perhaps one way is to expand your understanding of what it means to be a neighbor better. You will obtain some important insights as to how you can then love them.

A Taste of Kindness
Lord, it's not easy to make the effort to love people I don't know. I have enough trouble with the people I do know. Help me to be a better neighbor. Amen

You were Meant to Shine!

"You are like light for the whole world … Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven."
Mathew 5:14,16 CEV

In the middle of the day the stars and moon are still shining, they just step back for the sun. They wait for their turn to reflect more joy.
You're a little like that too. Your light is always available, but often it shines best in the darkness. You were designed to fill the dark spaces and bring them light. You're like a switch being turned on so everyone can see more clearly. You send your waves of love and grace out into the world and hope that the darkness will embrace your message.
As a child of God, you carry the light to every corner of the globe. You can reflect Him like the moon and shine for everyone to see, or shine His light like the sunshine and bring His warmth to those in great need of it.
You were made to shine!

Lord, it is such a honor to share Your grace and Your light with others. Amen

Don't Drop Out!

My dear child, don't shrug off God's discipline, but don't be crushed by it either. it's the child He loves that He disciplines; the child He embraces, He also corrects. God is educating you; that's why you must never drop ouy.

Have you ever felt like running away and starting your life all over? Maybe you fell that God always seems to think that you need to learn another lesson, while everyone else seems to coast through His school of learning. Sometimes it's hard to see the big picture and to appreciate the idea that you alove need more discipline.
The truth is that when we enroll in God's school, we become part of His education system with His perks as well as His discipline. The good news is that He cares so much about your well-being that He won't let you move ahead until you're ready.
Don't give up or drop out! You're a great student and God just wants you to be everything He intended you to be.

A Taste of Self-control
Lord, help me today to be ready to learn, grow and accept the work in front of me. Thanks for being such a divine Teacher! Amen
