I want to put Here a passage from the Holy Bible and then explain it according to our daily life.

I will start from today: 19-8-2009

When Reason isn't Reasonable

Come now, let us reason together', says the LORD
Isaiah 1:18

We sometimes find it difficult to make sense of life. We try to understand preplexing things so that we can go on. We are good at it for the most part, but sometimes we find ourselves up against a wall without understanding what happened.
John Donne said, "Reason is our soul's left hand, Faith her right." Assuming that your stronger hand is you dominant right hand, that makes sense. Faith is the brother ally, reason the weaker cousin.
There are times when you cannot come up with easy answers for certain events that take place in your life or in the world. None of us will ever understand the great tragedies of hurricanes and earthquakes that claim human lives.
we can go to the Lord in faith and ask His help in discerning reasons. It's the reasonable thign to do.

A Taste of Reason
Lord, there are always more questions than answers when strange events happen in the world. Sometimes that's true of my life as well. Be with me today beyond reason, holding me up in faith. Amen

Stepping Stones

You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping.

2 Samuel 22:37 NLT

Do you remember skimming stones as a kid? Finding suitable stones to reach and stand on while trying to cross a stream without falling into the water was also a lot of fun. Sometimes those stones were slimy which made the balancing act a bit harder.
As an adult, it can seem like you're always trying to find the stones that are safe to stand on for a moment while you figure out your next move. Even now, some of those stepping stones are slippery and you only realize that when you stand on them.
Today remember that God doesn't want you to slip and fall beyond His grasp. He will hold you firmly and enable you to get safely to the place He wants you to go. You can even have fun while getting there.

A Taste of Patience
Sometimes Lord, I try to step out ahead of You under the impression that I can just skip across the water like a stone that won't sink. Help me to take each step with You and stand firmly in Your care. Amen

The wings of Faith

Those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like angles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 NLT

Imagine flying up high in the sky and looking down at the world as you know it. Your perspective on things would change significantly. When you see the entire picture, you understand things in a new way. That's the perspective that God has on things. He sees the whole picture. He knows why it's important for you to go through and that it will strengthen you and help your soul grow stronger.
Faith can enable us to fly high enough to get a new view. We have to desire know God's vision for our lives and ask for His help in moving forward. Your wings are not clipped by adversity, they're strengthened. Get out there and fly higher!

A Taste of Faithfulness
Lore, I embrace the wings of hope and faith that You have given me. Help me to always try to understand Your intention for my life and spirit. Amen.

The Counselor Is Available

"If you love Me, obey My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth."
John 14:15-17NLT

God has appointed a Counselor who will never leave us – the Holy Spirit. His desire is for our wellbeing and to help us understand the Truth.
Truth is tricky. There is the Truth that applies to God, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. But then, there are truths that we know about ourselves, our work or our interactions with others. There are even truths for us in certain situations that might not be truths for someone else in the same situation. Sometimes truth is very personal and that's why the Holy Spirit guides us fully into the truth about God and about ourselves.
The Counselor is available today and He's always willing to give guidance to those who love Him.

Lord, guide me today in the truth that Your Holy Spirit would have me understand for my life at this stage. Amen

Gifts of the Heart

"Do for others as you would like them to do for you."
Luke 6:31 NLT

Have you had the experience the experience of diving in to promote a cause or help a friend and then celebrating the feeling of having accomplished much as a team? While celebrating, you perhaps even thought about your contribution and it made you feel even better.
Giving makes you feel good because you know that without the gift you contributed, the job might not have been done, or at least not as quickly. Giving makes living more joyful.
Today, look at the ways you give in thought, word, and deed. Thank God for giving you His love and a heart that wants to see the good in others.

Lord, You have given so much to me. Thank You for any opportunity I may have to give to others in You name. Amen

The "Got-to-Have" Frenzy

"You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive' ".
Acts 20:35 NLT

Somewhere along the way while growing up, we got the impression that the person with the most material possessions wins. Ever since, we've been in a "got-to-have" frenzy.
Winston Churchill said, "We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give."
It's time for most of us to thing more about giving, than getting. Keep in mind that even if you don't have all the latest gadgets on the market, if you have a bed at night, dinner on the table and have a clean water to drink, you're living in a state of wealth.
Let's be grateful for all that we have today and thank God for His mercy in our lives. Then, let us be spurred on to give more to those in need.

A Taste of Giving
Lord, I praise You for providing all that I need in my life. Holy Spirit, lead me to share what I have with others. Amen

Friendship Giving

There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT

"Sometimes being a friend is mastering the art of timing. There is time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurt themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it's all over."
Octavia Butler

Friendship requires an interesting set of skills to make it work. You have to know when to jump in with advice and good intentions and when to back off and let your friend figure out things alone. You have to know when they need a laugh or a hug. Sometimes friends can share each other's burdens and sometimes friends can step back in when they're needed a bit later on.
As you think about your close friends today, honor them before God, and give Him praise for the many joys you share.

A Taste of Giving
Lord, my friend is so important to me and I'm not always sure how to best take care of his needs. Help me to be as giving and tender as possible today. Amen

Follow Jesus

"You are My friends if you obey Me"
John 14:14 NLT

Remember when you were a kid you played a game called, "Follow the Leader"? You were supposed to imitate the leader's movements and actions, and try to keep up with the moves. The point of the game wan not to think for yourself.
In your adult life, you may feel like that happens to you all the time. Your boss gives you and assignment and you do it without question. Your spouse wants you to go somewhere and you go. You're always following.
Jesus wants to know that you're following Him because you love Him and not because all the other people in your life are pulling you in His direction. Check your heart and get a clear understanding of what motivates you.
It's great to walk beside others in your life, but it's important to follow the leader, Jesus Christ.

Lord, help me follow in Your footsteps today so that every action take receives Your blessing. Amen

The Dimmer Switch

A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.
Proverbs 17:17 NLT

The friends in our lives are essential to our well-being. None of us would survive the journey if we had to walk it alone. It's all about the lessons learned, the memories created and the opportunities offered.
In any friendship, the roles constantly change. One offers strength in time of need, one finds a way to lighten up a situation, or one is just there to hold a hand. A true friend walks beside you whenever you need them. Friendship turns the light on, up or out, depending on the situation. Friendship is like a dimmer switch and when it's plugged into the Source of Light, it makes an amazing difference.
Today, celebrate your friends. Enjoy the delightful fact that God loves you so much, He provided friends to show you His love each day.

It's All Possible!

"Anything is possible for someone who has faith!"
Mark 9:32 CEV

Brother Lawrence said, "All things are possible to him who believes, yet more to who hopes, more still to him who loves, and most of all to him who practices and perseveres in these three virtues."
Hope and love will get you on the right path and practice and perseverance will see that you get there. All things are possible but sometimes you have to be the catalyst to make things happen. You have to find the way through the obstacles, or have faith through the trials, or continue even when you've failed. You have to believe that the goal you've set is possible to achieve.
Believing it yourself may seem easy until your goal has not been reached within the set time limit. You might find yourself waiting, working and believing a lot longer than your expected. It's up to you to say focused and faithful to your dreams.

A Taste of Patience
Lord, please help me to patiently hope and believe that my dreams are yet to be realized. Amen
